Payroll unique ID for Settings>Employee>Employee

We use a unique identifier in TrackIt Alt# to establish pay information for our payroll API though web services. We also need to use the Alt# for matching IDs in our Command Series database. Can we have a field in each Employee file labled Payroll Code with alpha-numeric capabilities?
